Ella Williams is an artist based in Edinburgh, her work explores narrative painting processes, examining how image can be a vehicle for meaning.
The paintings explore collection and observation as a means to reinvent and recount periods of time and experience, taking on varying rigid frameworks of archival process to objectively gather and then re-arrange visual material.
Ella’s practice aims to explore the ambiguous results of translating experience- seeing the inherent shortfalls of this intention as an opportunity to reimagine something new, not entirely real, and not entirely unreal.
Her paintings draw on broad references to create rich new narratives of symbols, and colours to be interpreted by the viewer.
